805, Training Captain  

The Training Captain shall have responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
  1. Shall evaluate and keep records on all personnel for training needs, skills deficiencies, and member certifications.
  2. Shall validate EMS trainees for continued employment.
  3. Will oversee the development, implementation, and continuation of all EMS training, and continuing education.
  4. Will oversee the qualifications of pre-hospital personnel involved in patient care and dispatch by maintaining an on-going program involving education, testing, and credentialing.
  5. Will report directly to the Chief.
  6. Other duties as assigned.


The Training Captain shall meet the following qualifications:

  1. Must be minimally an EMT-B or higher by the Texas Department of Health for at least one long semester.
  2. Must have held the position of medic for one fall or spring semester.
  3. Must be a certified CPR instructor certified by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  4. Must be a current student at TAMU.
  5. Must be in good standing with the TAMU and TAMU EMS.
