814, Communications Lieutenant  

The Communications Lieutenant will report directly to and is responsible to the Communications Captain.

The position will have the following responsibilities:

  1. Maintain all EMS pagers and radio systems to working specifications.
  2. Maintain EMS database of assigned pagers and maintain paging software.
  3. Maintain EMS telephone and E911 systems.
  4. Responsible for supplies for daily operations of communications center.
  5. Responsible for updating map book, fire plans, disaster contingency plans, etc.
  6. Responsible for development, implementation, revision, and maintenance of EMS communications protocols in conjunction with the Communications Captain.
  7. Responsible for proper maintenance and operation of EMS computers and networks in cooperation with Health Center IT Core Management.
  8. Shall develop, implement, revise, and maintain a quality training program for new communication center employees.
  9. Shall work with the Deputy Chief for Education to hold employee specific training when needed.
  10. Shall work with the Deputy Chief for Communications in developing, implementing, revising, and maintaining a quality QA/QI program for new communication center employees.
  11. Other duties as assigned.


The position shall have the following qualifications:

  1. Must have held the position of dispatcher for one long semester.
  2. Must be a currently enrolled student at TAMU.
  3. Must be in good standing with the University and TAMU EMS.
