Q: How
do I contact EMS in case of emergency? A: Call 9-911 if you are calling from an on-campus line. You will be connected to our dispatch center and they can send an ambulance to the location of your emergency. If you are off campus or calling from a cell phone, then dial 911 like you would normally do. Q: How do I join TAMU EMS? A: Simple. Just go to our How To Join Page for more information and to fill out an application. You may also visit us upstairs in the A. P. Beutel Health Center, room 209, or phone us at 979-845-1525. Q: When do I call an ambulance? A: Any time that you have any type of medical emergency. This can be as major as a heart attack or as simple as constant vomiting. If you are ever in doubt, call 9-911 or 911. Q: How can I contact TAMU EMS to request my organizations event covered? A: First, decide if you need a standby ambulance or a team of medics. If you need ambulance coverage, please phone our squad room at 979-845-1525. If you need a team of medics to cover your event, contact Texas A&M Emergency Care Team, our sister organization, which covers events with medical personnel. You can contact them by calling 979-458-8288. Q: How much does an ambulance transport cost? A: If you are a current student with Texas A&M, TAMU EMS only charges for supplies used. The rest is paid for by your Student Health Services semester fee. If you are not a current student, you will receive a bill for a transport, but the cost of transport depends on the services that we provide during transport. Our cost for transport is comparable to other local services. Q: What do I do if I feel that I need medical help or have a medical question, but I don't think it requires an ambulance? A: If you just have a medical question you can call dial-a-nurse at 979-458-8379. If you are ever in doubt as to whether an ambulance is needed or not, call 9-911 (on campus) or 911 (off campus) and speak to one of our dispatchers. If you feel that the situation is not an emergency, you may dial 979-845-1525 to speak to our dispatchers. | |||
