The
training department of University EMS is responsible for coordinating
the training of new volunteer medics. The department
schedules standard orientating classes end emergency vehicle operations
courses for new medics to introduce them to the EMS system at Texas
A&M. After completing the orientating classes, the new employee
begins on ambulance training shifts where they participate in patient
care
in actual emergency situations. This allows the field training officers
to view the new employee's skill level prior to releasing them to
work on their own.
University
EMS offers many continuing education courses for its volunteers
to ensure that all patients recieve the most up-to-date treatment
posible.
This is done both by working one-on-one training shifts with an
FTO, and by offering scheduled classes tought by experienced members.
University EMS
is also certified to teach CE (continuing education) courses in
house. This allows us to help keep our medics up to date on skills
and new medical updates. |
